Rebecka Peterson

National Teacher of the Year Visits Pelham

On Friday, March 15 the Pelham Public Schools’ faculty engaged in a variety of professional learning opportunities as part of Spring Superintendent’s Conference Day. To kick-off the day, they had the honor of welcoming the 2023 National Teacher of the Year, Rebecka Peterson, who gave an inspiring keynote address.

Everyone was extremely grateful to Peterson for her incredible words and thankful to the Pelham Education Foundation for generously sponsoring the event.

For the remainder of the morning and afternoon, teachers participated in several professional learning sessions across all disciplines. These sessions were led by District administrators, outside consultants, and teachers themselves. Specific topics included:

• Branching Minds data monitoring tool (K-5)

• Responsive Classroom (K-5)

• Pathways to Literacy (Gr. 6-12 English & Social Studies Depts.)

• Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (Gr. 6-12 Math Dept.)

• Project-Based Learning (Gr. 6-12 Science/Math Depts.)

• Fitness Instruction (Physical Education)

• Narcan Training

Thanks goes out to the presenters, administrators, and staff for making the day a tremendous success.
