Archbishop Stepinac High School Integrates Artificial Intelligence Into Lesson Planning to Foster Deeper Learning and Problem-Solving Skills
This fall, Archbishop Stepinac High School took a bold step into the future of education by
integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its curriculum. In partnership with the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center Model Schools and Novak Educational Consulting, Stepinac’s faculty has developed a comprehensive AI strategy designed to prepare students for success in an increasingly complex and technology-driven world.
The initiative focuses on leveraging AI to break down barriers to learning, enhance student engagement, and provide personalized resources for both students and educators. AI is being used across a range of applications, including essay analysis, conversational simulations, personalized learning, teacher support, and research assistance. These tools not only encourage students to be more accountable and innovative in their work but also help teachers create meaningful and challenging lessons.
Noelia Pozo, Chairperson of the World Languages Department, highlights the impact AI is already having in her classroom:
“In class, we use AI engines like Claude, Perplexity, and Copilot to practice speaking and listening through AI-powered conversation simulations. An AI chatbot can create real-life conversations in Spanish or other foreign languages, providing instant corrections and vocabulary tips.”
By integrating these tools, Stepinac is transforming education to meet the demands of the modern world, providing students with practical skills and preparing them for higher education and their future careers.
