October 25, 2024 – Police Assistance (Hit and Run Accident)
The Westchester County Police Department advised the Pelham Police Department of a hit-and-run multi-vehicle accident on the northbound side of the Hudson River Parkway near Wolfe’s Lane. Pelham units canvased the area upon being advised that two males in dark hoodies fled on foot onto Wolf’s Lane in an unknown direction. A Pelham Manor Police Department unit attempted to follow a vehicle that fled the scene but was not successful.
October 25, 2024 – Larceny
A worker for Village Wine and Liquor flagged down a police unit to report that a larceny had been committed by a Black male, wearing a white hat, red shirt, and dark-colored pants. The suspect took a bottle of alcohol from the store without paying and headed southbound on Fifth Avenue toward the Pelham train station. When the responding officer met other units at the train station, the suspect was already in handcuffs. They recovered the stolen merchandise, and the store’s employee stated that he wanted to press charges. The suspect was then transported to police headquarters, his arrest was processed, and he was given an appearance ticket.
October 25, 2024 – Stolen Vehicle Recovered
A police unit on a routine patrol observed a Kia bearing Pennsylvania plates going northbound on Fifth Avenue, making an illegal U-turn, and attempting to park on Fifth Avenue facing southbound. When approached by one of the police officers, the driver produced a NYS driver’s license. The desk officer at police headquarters advised the unit officer that the vehicle belonged to a rental company and was stolen. The suspect advised the officer that he was trying to go to Pelham Town Court to answer to additional charges out of Pelham Manor. The suspect was taken out of the vehicle and arrested for criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, cuffed, and patted down without incident. The suspect was transported to police headquarters where he was fingerprinted, photographed, and booked. After arraignment, he was released on his own recognizance and given an appearance ticket. The passenger who had been in the car with the suspect confirmed her identity and was sent on her way. The car was then impounded.
October 21, 2024 – Suspicious Circumstances
A complainant notified police that on First Avenue between Third Street and Lincoln Avenue, a scooter/moped without a license plate carrying two possibly Hispanic males wearing red shirts and hats was headed northbound on First Avenue towards Lincoln Avenue. The complainant stated that the parties were continually stopping traffic and appeared to be scanning house porches for packages. The complaints advised the police that they continued northbound on First Avenue and proceeded westbound on Lincoln Avenue into Mount Vernon. Units were advised, and the surrounding areas were canvased with negative results.
October 17, 2024 – Larceny
A police officer responded to a call from a resident who had received a notification from FedEx that a package he was expecting had been delivered but whose package was missing when he went to retrieve it twenty minutes later. The package contained a JABRA Enhance Multimic, which he said was valued at $275.00.There were no cameras in the area, but the victim wanted the incident documented for his records.
