Civic Engagement with the Future Generation
A special part of being in public service is connecting with residents. Last month, the Village Manager received a phone message from a young resident inquiring about building a home in Pelham Manor. A meeting was arranged so Village Officials could meet with the young resident to discuss building architecture and our local regulations governing building structures. Upon his arrival to Village Hall, he was eager to share with us that his grandfather is a former Pelham Manor Mayor, and located his photo on the wall. Louis Frost was Mayor of the Village of Pelham Manor from 1981-1983.
The young Mr. Frost came prepared with sample photos of the home he would like to build in the future. He had robust questions on the size of the home he could potentially build, and if he would be allowed to purchase more than one lot. His younger brother patiently attended the meeting, and made sure to ask if he could view the fire trucks afterward. Civic engagement looks a little different every day, and residents are always encouraged to reach out to Village Hall with any inquiries they may have!
