By Joyce Farrell

At the July 9 Village of Pelhams Board of Trustees Regular Meeting, Trustee Kim McGreal reported that a beautiful piece of artwork is being installed at the Pelham Art Center and asked that all support the Arts Council and downtown Pelham by attending the concerts this summer.

Trustee Theresa Mohan then gave a special shoutout to the fire and police departments who responded to a call on July 1 to aid someone with a severe laceration wound that required them to work together to stabilize the patient, who was then transported to the hospital. She also gave a public service announcement reminding all that storms can cause downed wires, which no one should touch as they could be live.

Mayor Chance Mullen thanked Michael Murphy of Murphy Brothers Construction who invited Mayor Mullen and Patrick Normoyle, the developer for Pelham House, to present on the Pelham House project at The Rail House Restaurant. They were also joined by Cristina Chianese, President of the Chamber of Commerce, local residents, and municipal officials from the area. Additionally, Mayor Mullen was invited to give the same presentation at the Village of Mamaroneck’s Board of Trustees meeting, which he did in early July as Mamaroneck is seeking a solution for adding affordable housing in their area. The final item in Mayor Mullen’s report was to encourage all to attend the Summer Sundown Concerts, taking place every other Saturday in August.

The Board of Trustees passed several resolutions during the meeting. These included the adoption of Local Law No. 5 of 2024 of the Village of Pelham, which allows the Village of Pelham to add Indoor Recreation Facility as a permitted use in the Business – 1 Zoning District and to amend Chapter 98-6 to add a definition of Indoor Recreation Facility. The Board also voted unanimously to declare its intention to serve as the Lead Agency for the SEQRA review of the North Pelham Watershed Flood Mitigation Project.

Additionally, the Board also authorized the Picture House Regional Film Center to use the section of Wolfs Lane Park directly across from the movie theatre with access to the park on September 6 and authorized the appropriate Village officials and staff to take the necessary and appropriate actions to effectuate the resolution.

Finally, the Board authorized the execution of a Grant Disbursement Agreement with the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) for the Purchase of an Aerial Ladder Truck for the Village of Pelham Fire Department. Finally, it also authorized the Village Administrator to submit an application to the New York State CFA program for the Pelhamdale Avenue and Boulevard Sewer Main Replacement Project, and it authorized the Village Administrator to submit an application to the New York State CFA program for the acquisition of a vacuum truck to support the MS4.
