News from Pelham Together

A Town Hall Meeting will takes place discussing A Conversation with and for Our Teens at the Daronco Town House on October 18 at 7pm. Help create a place where young people and other community members can come together to discuss what it’s like to be a teenager in Pelham today so that we can make it better for all of us. We hope parents of all-aged children will join, along with teens, to hear as many voices as possible.  No registration necessary.

WE’D LIKE YOUR INPUT. . . As Pelham Together fills out their calendar of programs and events for both parents and youth this year, they would like your input. Weigh in on the options in this (very) brief poll.  Totally anonymous, takes 2 minutes.  We really appreciate your thoughts! NEW YEAR, NEW FRIENDSHIPS: Heard In Rye, is hosting Dr. Eileen Kennedy-Moore (previous guest on Live With Kelly And Ryan and the Today Show and in photo), to describe five essential friendship skills that are part of the unspoken social curriculum for school-age children.  It offers parents practical ideas for helping children to feel more comfortable and confident in social situations.

Nearly every child has trouble with friendships in some way, at some time.  Friendship skills are never about just doing one thing. Children need to adjust their behavior flexibly to fit the situation and their goals.

You’ll learn practical, research-based tips to help your child with 1) Reaching Out to Make Friends,  2) Stepping Back to Keep Friends, 3) Blending In to Join Friends, 4) Speaking Up to Share with Friends, and 5) Letting Go to Accept Friends. Thursday, Oct 19th, 12 noon. Visit https://pelhamtogether.org/events-1/2023/10/19/5-friendship-skills-every-kid-needs-to-learn-for-parents
