Stop Motion Time Travel Mini Camp
February 17 – February 19 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Have you ever wanted to go back in time? What might you discover if you could make a time machine and travel to the future? In this three-day filmmaking camp, you can! Bartow-Pell is partnering with The Little Animation Studio for a fantastic, hands-on exploration of one of the most beloved forms of storytelling: Stop Motion Animation!
Young filmmakers in this camp will get VIP access to the historic mansion with permission to film in otherwise restricted areas. They will have the place to themselves, exploring the many mysterious and beautiful filming locations available exclusively to this group.
Participants in this mini-camp will work together in small “production groups” to develop their own unique visions of time travel and will create sets and characters using a variety of art materials and methods. They will then use professional-grade software “DragonFrame” to bring their stories to life using DSLR cameras and Mac laptops.
Finally, we will get a chance to film the directors themselves during a “pixilation” exercise (the animation of living subjects). Finished films will be edited together with sound and music into one amazing collaborative work of art which will be sent to families via online link. Visitors to the link may view, download, and share the film again and again.
Three-day workshop: Monday, February 17, Tuesday, February 18, and Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 10am to 1pm
Appropriate for students 7 to 12 years old. Limited space available.
Children should bring a bagged lunch with them each day.
Cost $400
