Curious about how to set yourself up for success on the SAT and ACT in the years leading up to test prep? Overwhelmed by the idea of writing college essays and the timeline on how to prepare? Join educator and counselor Emily Tuckman Bell for a power hour on the basics for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders to allay anxiety with manageable strategies to ease into preparing for college admissions tests and writing admissions essays. This program is for teens in 9th-11th grade but parents are welcome. Registration is suggested, but walk-ins are welcome. Cards for Cancer Patients

Monday, February 10, 3:30-4:30 pm  

In celebration of Valentine’s Day or simply as an act of kindness, we invite you to join Pelham Memorial High School students in making cards for cancer patients. The Cancer Support Team, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for patients and families affected by cancer in southern Westchester, will distribute these cards. All supplies will be provided. This program is open to adults, teens, and children ages five and up.

 

Ranger Talk: Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site

We are celebrating Black History all month! But what do you know about the “father of Black History?” 99 years ago, in February 1926, Dr. Carter G. Woodson launched the celebration of “Negro History Week,” the precursor of Black History Month. Join us for this special Ranger Talk from the Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site in Washington, DC, to learn more about Dr. Woodson and the contributions he made to the study and celebration of Black history. Crafty Adults: Felt Flowers

Monday, February 24, 7:15-8:15 pm  

Join our resident artist/instructor Sara Mallach this month as we brighten up the winter blahs with beautiful and colorful Ranunculus flowers made from felt. Attach a pin backing and you’ll have a lovely accessory for your winter hat or coat. This event will take place in-person at the Library and separate registration is required for each attendee. The 2nd-Friday Book Club will meet on Friday, February 14 at 10:30 am to discuss Bagdad Without a Map by Tony Horwitz and on Friday, March 14 at 10:30 am to discuss The Love of a Good Woman by Alice Munro.
