Four Rotary Scholars of the Month Recognized

Four Pelham Memorial High School seniors—Emma Crotty, Audrey Levenson, Kaitlin Sheehy and Ava Knickerbocker—were recognized as Scholars of the Month for October and November by Rotary Club of the Pelhams at a recent luncheon meeting.

 

Emma Crotty is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Math, English, Science and World Language Honor Societies. She has received awards in science competitions and been a member of the Mental Health Awareness Club, Breast Cancer Awareness Club as well as the Spanish, Senior Citizen Penpal and ASL clubs.

 

Audrey Levenson, an editor of student newspaper, Pelham Examiner, is treasurer of the English and Music Honor Societies and member of the Social Studies and Math as well as National Honor Societies. She is a 2022 National Merit Commended Student. Audrey is leader of the AcaPelicans music ensemble and president of the Women’s Empowerment Club and Vice President of the Student Government. She plays the violin and piano.

 

Kaitlin Sheehy is a member of the Math, English and World Language Honor Societies as well as the National Society of High School Scholars. She is a member of the Breast Cancer Awareness Club, Spanish Club and Pelham Together Club. Kaitlin plays field hockey, basketball, softball and bowling. She works on the Yearbook and was a Tiny Tot Counselor.

 

Ava Knickerbocker, an International Genius Olympiad Finalist and Honorable Mention winning a $14,000 scholarship. She placed 4th for her neuroscience project at the WESEF and has published her research. She is an AP Scholar with distinction. Ava is president of the Asian Culture Club and American Red Cross Club and member of the Environmental Sciences and Medical Careers clubs. She is Global Affairs Director at the Youth Climate Action Team International and Director of Sponsorships at Girl STEMinist International. She is Social Media Manager at the student newspaper, Pelham Examiner. One of her interests is curling.

 

In addition to recognizing PMHS students for their academic achievements as Scholars of the Month during the school year, Rotary Club of the Pelhams will award a $15,000 scholarship to a 2023 graduating PMHS student. Applications for the scholarship will be available through the PMHS Guidance Department in the spring.
