One Young Girl’s Courageous Journey

Carina was born on May 15, 2016.  This was just the beginning of this little superhero’s journey. Carina was diagnosed with a rare disease known as HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis). Once she was diagnosed the doctors determined she would need a bone marrow transplant. On May 1st, 2018, Carina was able to find a match and the transplant was done.

The transplant journey has been a challenging time for the family. In the last 5 ½ years their lives have changed significantly. With many ups and downs, they have learned a lot through it all. Although her immune system is not quite yet where it needs to be for the school setting Carina is currently attending Kindergarten with a tutor. She continues to shine her light on everyone she meets. She is a very brave and loving little girl who teaches us lessons about life on a daily basis. 

The Danny Fund has been assisting Carina and her family with any financial burdens. For almost 30 years, The Danny Fund has been fulfilling its mission to provide support to families who have critically ill or injured children during periods of crisis.
