Rotary Scholars in May:
Facciuto, Alexander and D’Angelo

Pelham Memorial High School seniors Lucas Facciuto, Kathryn Alexander and Edward (Teddy) D’Angelo were honored as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month for May by Rotary Club of the Pelhams at a luncheon on May 24.

 

PMHS Principal Mark Berkowitz, a member of Rotary, introduced the students:

 

Lucas Facciuto is a Member of National Honor Society as well as Science, Spanish, Math, Social Studies, World Language Honor Societies. He has worked with scientists at Mount Sinai Hospital Transplant Institute during the last two summers and his work resulted in co-authorship in scientific journals. He was captain of the PMHS Varsity Soccer team. Lucas plans to attend John Hopkins in the Fall and begin a pre-med program with the goal of becoming a surgeon.

 

Kathryn Alexander is a Member of the National Honor Society as well as Social Studies, Spanish, Science, Math and English Honor Societies. She is a varsity athlete of Pelham Community Rowing and Greenwich Crew. Kathryn was National Champion in the Youth Women’s 8+ in 2021. She is an acolyte at Christ Church, a member of Girls Who Code Club and she organized the Community Color Run in 2020 (cancelled due to Covid). Kathryn plans to attend Stanford University this fall.

 

Edward (Teddy) D’Angelo is a Member of the National Honor Society as well as the English, Math, Social Studies, Science and Spanish Honor Societies. He was a member of the PMHS Varsity Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field teams. He participated in the Huguenot Mission summer trip to Puerto Rico as a sophomore and volunteered to assist at The Pelham Civics Olympics half and 10k. He and a friend raised $37,000 for the Leukemia Society. Edward plans to attend Binghamton this Fall as a history major. 

 

In addition to honoring Scholars of the Month during the school year, Rotary awards a $12,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior each June. Funds for the scholarship are donated by members of the Rotary Club and the community. An appeal letter for funds is being mailed this month. Donations may be made at pelhamrotary.com
