Village of Pelham Mayor Chance Mullen Appointed to NYCOM’s Policy Committee on Finance

Mayor Chance Mullen of the Village of Pelham has been appointed to the Finance Policy Committee of the New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM). NYCOM’s President, Mayor Francis X. Murray of the Village of Rockville Centre, made the appointment.

As a member of the Finance Policy Committee, Mayor Mullen will be directly involved in providing policy recommendations to the NYCOM Executive Committee, developing positions on various pieces of legislation and considering new legislative proposals that will benefit cities and villages. This committee will address a wide range of issue, including municipal budgets, taxation, revenue options, state aid, home rul and infrastructure funding.

In making the appointment, Mayor Murray stated, “Mayor Mullen is a strong and outspoken supporter of local government. We are pleased to have him involved with NYCOM in this important undertaking which will only strengthen our organization’s advocacy efforts. I know Mayor Mullen will be a tremendous asset to this process.”

In response to his appointment, Mayor Mullen said, “I’m honored to be selected for NYCOM’s Finance Policy Committee and I’m looking forward to bringing Pelham’s perspective to the table. The challenges we face locally are no difference than those facing all New Yorkers. We need to promote economic growth while investing in key infrastructure and this is an opportunity to partner with my fellow New York Mayors to advocate for policies that can make it a priority statewide.”

The Conference of Mayors represents city and village governments in New York State and has 575 city and village members. NYCOM has been in existence since 1910.
