Village of Pelham Congratulates New Recruits

By Village of Pelham Mayor Chance Mullen
I’m happy to announce the appointment of Pelham Police Department’s newest recruits, Anjolie Alexander, Kylie Hearle, and Victor Torres. While many of our kids were heading back into school this morning, our recruits attended their first day at the Westchester County Police Academy. They’ll spend the next 20 weeks preparing to take their place in our department and will fill critical vacancies created by departmental retirements.
Each recruit is truly impressive. We worked hard last spring to attract a robust, diverse, talented pool of local candidates, and we are glad they answered our call to take the necessary civil service exams. They will be excellent officers, committed to a high standard of excellence. They are also the most diverse class we’ve ever sent to the academy and two of our recruits are women. Ensuring racial and gender diversity within our department was a priority when we adopted Pelham’s Police Reform and Reinvention Plan last April. I’m so excited to see progress on this front, and I hope these recruits serve our community for many years to come.
Please join me in congratulating our neighbors – Anjolie, Kylie, and Victor – as they take this important step in their professional lives.
Happy New Year, Pelham.
