Statement for Re-Election for Pelham Manor Trustee from Maurice Owen-Michaane / Manor Leadership Team
Village of Pelham Manor Trustee Maurice Owen-Michaane
It has been my personal honor and privilege to serve as your Pelham Manor Trustee these past 2 years, representing all the residents in our amazing village. I am extremely grateful that you – my neighbors – have placed your trust in me. I hope I have earned that trust over the past two years and respectfully ask for your vote once again on March 15, 2022 to serve another term as your Trustee.
The past two years have been an incredible journey for me with my colleagues on the Board, and I am honored to be running for re-election with my colleague and friend, Trustee & Police Commissioner Breda Bennett as part of the Manor Leadership Team.
Who could have imagined a global pandemic at the start of 2020 when I first ran for office? But, through it all, I worked alongside my colleagues on the Pelham Manor Board of Trustees to maintain your village services, and we came out even stronger, all while meeting the needs of our residents and remaining fiscally responsible.
The Manor Leadership Team has a proven record of maintaining fiscal responsibility for our residents, even through a pandemic and related economic challenges. Our Village is in strong financial health and we remain 100% debt free. Pelham Manor has continuously remained New York State Tax Cap compliant since its inception – because neighbors like you don’t want to be surprised by large and unnecessary tax increases.
One of my core promises in 2020 was to increase communications. Together, your Manor Leadership Team has made communication one of the hallmarks of Pelham Manor government so that you can stay more connected with us, and share your ideas, questions and concerns. Over the last two years, we dramatically enhanced our already robust communication channels, including:
1. Coffee & Chat Series
2. Robust Website Updates
3. Dedicated COVID-19 Hub
4. Dedicated Storm Hub
5. Highly Accessible Village Board Meetings, through 2 TV channels, Facebook Livestream, Vimeo Livestream and Video recording library of all meetings
6. Email, phone and in person access to all Trustees at all times
Another important priority for me and the Manor Leadership Team has been maintaining the highest standards of Pedestrian and Traffic Safety, including:
1. Expansion of the Four Corners Crosswalk Delay
2. Extending the Crossing Guard Time
3. New Pedestrian Signal at Boston Post Road & Esplanade
4. Four Corners Red Light Camera
5. New Pelhamdale & Mt.Tom Pedestrian Safety Measures
6. Speed & Traffic Monitors throughout the Village
7. AAA Silver Award to Pelham Manor in its Community Traffic Safety Awards Program
Put simply, we are all here for Pelham Manor. You choose to live here to raise your families, be with your friends, and to cultivate a warm and welcoming community for all. As your Trustee, I have and will continue to keep the promise of good government going in the Village of Pelham Manor by staying fiscally responsible and not exceeding the tax cap, as well as maintaining and improving upon our superior service departments, all while fostering a socially and environmentally responsible community. Your Manor Leadership Team Working for You & Working for Pelham Manor!
Please vote to re-elect me, Maurice Owen-Michaane, and Breda Bennett on March 15, 2022 at the Pelham Manor Fire Station (4 Pennfield Place) from 6am to 9pm. Thank you for your trust and support. And I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my family and friends for their unwavering support, including my husband Dr. Michael Owen-Michaane and our 4 beautiful children, Caleb, Abigail, Jacob and Eve.
