AAA to Present Defensive Driving Course, “Road Safety Starts With You”
By Stephen E. Lipken
Pelham Manor Mayor Jennifer Monachino Lapey opened the October 26th Board Meeting, with Deputy Mayor/Trustee Breda A. Bennett presenting an update regarding traffic and pedestrian safety, Road Safety Starts with You. “On Saturday, November 21st, AAA will be here, presenting a defensive driving course,” Bennett noted.
Trustee Maurice Owen-Michaane said that he met County Executive Ken Jenkins, informing him of the 2023 Pelham Manor Village stormwater infrastructure assessment plan. Jenkins replied that it was more efficient to do smaller projects, one to five million dollars, rather than one big $20-30 million project. Jenkins said that it is the County’s responsibility to direct what goes on there, directing the Village to do a feasibility study. The Village is applying to the State to secure funds for the study.
Bennett noted that September was a relatively quiet police activity month, compared to August. Police Chief Gregory Sancho reported that Detective Robert Vogel successfully completed the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Investigative Photography During a Crime Scene technician course, held at the Westchester County Police Academy, Valhalla.
Village Treasurer Lindsey Luft reported a Total Fund Balance of $16,269,925.97 as of August 31, 2026. In August 2026 the Pelham Manor Board approved a $5,038.32 increase to their NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Snow and Ice Agreement reimbursement contract for a previous season to account for severe weather conditions.
Race Organizer Jim Arden requested to host the 2026 Pelham Half Marathon and 10K on Saturday, November 28th, which includes parts of Pelham Manor at the Pelham Gazebo.
