PMHS Seniors Arman Brummett, Eloise McGibbon and Emily Walch Named Rotary Scholars of the Month

PMHS seniors Arman Brummett. Eloise McGibbon and Emily Walch were recognized by Rotary Club of the Pelhams as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month at an October luncheon.

Introducing the students was Rotarian Sean Llewellyn, who is also principal.

Arman Brummett is an AP Scholar, president of the PMHS chapter of the National Honor Society, Vice President of the Math Honor Society, and a member of the Science, Social Studies, and English Honor Societies. He is a member of the Math Club, Model UN, Science Olympiad, Interact Club, Mandarin Club, and South Asian Heritage Club. He is also a varsity soccer and travel soccer player. In his spare time, Arman participates in volunteer work, is on the Islamic Leadership Council, tutors students in Chemistry and Mandarin, plays guitar, reads science fiction, and plays strategy games, including Dungeons and Dragons. 

Eloise McGibbon is active in Science Research, athletics, and service. She has conducted research at the Yale New Haven Radiation Physics Lab and the NYU Langone Radiation Oncology Lab. Eloise is a Youth Representative for the Westchester County Youth Board, having been appointed by Representative George Latimer. She is the Founder and Youth Coordinator of the Tutoring Program at the Pelham Public Library, a member of the Pelham Together Youth Council, and a Junior Volunteer at Greenwich Hospital. Eloise is also a member of the PMHS golf and tennis teams, co-president of the Breast Cancer Awareness Club, co-president of the Women in STEM Club, and member of the Chemistry Club. In her spare time, she plays piano, works at Tig & Peach, and teaches a running class for elementary school children. 

Emily Walch has been honored with a number of prestigious awards including the Harvard Radcliffe Book Award, the Lower Hudson Volleyball Association Coaches Award, and first place in the Somers Science Fair in Behavioral Science. She is a member of the National Honor Society and five additional academic honor societies. Emily is the president of the Pelham Together Youth Council, founder and president of the Grassroots Grocery Club for anti-hunger and food recovery, and is also a PMHS Peer Leader, reporter for the Pelham Examiner, and member of the Students for Refugees Club, Habitat for Humanity, the Animal Welfare Club, the Chemistry Club, the Ocean Conservation Club, the Women in STEM Club, and the Women’s Empowerment Club, as well as participant in

Columbia University’s BrainSTORM neuroscience teen program. Through the PMHS Science Research Program, Emily participated in a neuroscience mentorship at Columbia University’s Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease. She is also a varsity Volleyball player, volunteer, tutor, and Pelicones Ice Cream truck employee. 

In addition to the Scholars of the Month program, Pelham Rotary will award a $20,000 scholarship to a graduating PMHS senior in June. Applications for the scholarship will be available through the PMHS Guidance Department next spring.
