DPW Equipment Upgrade for All-Seasons

Pelham Manor is excited to share that their latest capital purchase has arrived, a Kubota sub-compact tractor. This all-season machine will be such a productive addition to the Department of Public Works. Primarily, this piece of equipment replaces the Bombardier machine that was previously utilized to plow the sidewalks.

Prudent financial and fleet management allowed for this piece of equipment to be secured timely. The planning efforts that went into the budgeting process, coupled with an effective approach to our municipal budget and the utilization of New York State Contracts, made this capital authorization a reality well before the next snowfall. The two Bombardier machines that had reached the end of their useful life, were auctioned off, and the proceeds were put toward the purchase of this replacement.

The Kubota operates with four wheels, rather than the track system that the Bombardier had, making it much nimbler to operate. The Kubota also provides greater control over the plow blade. Additionally, there are numerous attachments that are available for this machine.

With the initial purchase, they secured the salt spreader, auger, fork lift, and bucket attachments. All of these attachments are interchangeable. This upgrade also provides operating efficiencies as it is able to be utilized year-round for operations such as sidewalk replacements, tree maintenance, and other general grounds maintenance operations.
