
Councilwoman McLoughlin Cites Highly Successful Camp Summer, Extensive Town Senior Program

Pelham Town Supervisor Daniel J. McLaughlin convened the August 11th Council meeting, beginning with Deputy Supervisor Rae Szymanski’s Emergency Medical Services Report (EMS). “For the month of July there were 44 calls in the Village of Pelham, 42 in the Village of Pelham Manor, one on I-95, six on the Hutch, two in Eastchester, one in Tuckahoe and one in the Bronx. Response time was 5 minutes, 7 seconds; on scene time, 17 minutes; transport time, 12 minutes, six seconds; turnaround time, 30 minutes, 6 seconds.”
Space Update: “As of July 31st, we closed down the Pelham Manor flycar facility. We now have the flycar, ambulance and personnel here,” McLaughlin said.
In the Recreation Report, Councilwoman Kara McLoughlin noted a very successful camp summer, with lots of positive comments. Registration for fall programs will open soon and there will be a Mobile App. Monday night concerts at Gazebo Park will continue through September 8th, another concert or two may be added due to rainouts.
McLoughlin added that Town seniors have been kept busy with Pelham Together Pelicones, bingo, arts and crafts, exercise, yoga plus shopping trips to Arthur Avenue.
Councilwoman Kristen Burke reported that the Courts “This year the court was open one week in July, another in August.” A new system for processing traffic ticket payments has been instituted by the Village of Pelham; also notices have been sent out for people possessing unpaid tickets five years and older.
Burke went on to say that Town Justice Adam Kagan received $42,570 in June; $11,880 in July; Justice John P. Gardner received $31,003 in June, $48,835 in July.
Regarding the NewYork State Energy Research and Development Authority Grant, Burke stated that the consultants were incorporating comments and edits into the draft; Burke and McLaughlin will engage in discussions with the two vendors. Grants must be applied for by September 25th.
Finally, McLaughlin discussed the installation of a Town Hall elevator to be placed outside, being less disruptive to the inside of the building, not having to open up the roof.
