Two New Firefighters Sworn in at Manor Board Meeting
By Stephen E. Lipken
Pelham Manor Mayor Jennifer Monachino Lapey called the August 11th Board of Trustees meeting to order, beginning with Deputy Mayor Bridget A. (Breda) Bennett addressing Village Manager Lindsey Luft regarding positive feedback from many residents about the new recycling collection schedule. “As a reminder, paper recycling is now every Wednesday; please have it out by 7:00 a.m.,” Bennett stated. “If your garbage is picked up on Thursday, glass and plastics will be collected on the second round; if it is picked up on Friday it is the second collection on Friday. Both sets of recycling are picked up every week.”
Luft mentioned that the September meeting schedule will be on Monday, September 15th and Monday, September 29th.
Trustee Timothy Case said that solar panels are being installed on the Village Hall roof. Case noted that Thursday, September 11th marks the 9/11 Commemoration by the Village gazebo at 8:30 a.m., honoring first responders.
Trustee Daniel McLoughlin noted that the Highbrook Avenue stormwater project is nearly completed.
Then Lapey swore in two new firefighters, brothers Leonard and Santino Esposito. Leonard has experience as a first responder through his service with the FDNY EMS Division, where he served as an EMT. Santino has a working knowledge of buildings through his construction experience; both will complete their training at the Westchester County Career Fire Academy.
A Resolution was passed, Consideration to Adopt Updated Procurement Policy, available on pelhammanor.gov.
With an unlocked vehicle larceny, Police Chief Gregory Sancho pointedly reminded residents to lock their cars and warned the public about a fraudulent request to wire a $200,000 payment; contact your bank or credit card company to dispute charges and closely check email addresses.
