“The Secret Garden Party” Blooms with Success at the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum & Gardens

The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum & Gardens came alive on Saturday, June 14, as guests gathered for The Secret Garden Party, a magical evening on the historic grounds in support of the estate’s preservation and public programs.

Set against the enchanting backdrop of the mansion’s formal gardens in Pelham Bay Park, the sold-out fundraiser drew community leaders, supporters, and friends of the museum for an unforgettable night of celebration and philanthropy. The meticulously maintained gardens, with blooming flowers and lush greenery, provided a picture-perfect setting for a night of giving back. Guests were welcomed with signature garden-inspired cocktails and refreshments as they strolled through the grounds and mingled among the historical surroundings.

Attendees were treated to live music from a jazz quartet, Mellow Fellows, adding a lively ambiance to the festivities. Gourmet hors d’oeuvres crafted by a local catering company, Scarborough Fair Catering, were served, featuring seasonal ingredients and culinary flair that reflected the event’s elegant, yet relaxed vibe. A highlight of the night was the silent auction, which offered wonderful trips and wares from local Westchester vendors.  To extend the night’s celebration, many patrons also purchased tickets to attend dinners, hosted by generous Bartow-Pell supporters.  These  dinners were in unique settings that offered  creative dining experiences.

The fundraiser not only celebrated the museum’s vital role in Bronx cultural and educational life, but also raised crucial funds for ongoing programming, community outreach, and the preservation of the historic mansion and gardens. Organizers were thrilled by the event’s strong turnout and the generosity of guests, who showed their commitment to preserving local history and supporting accessible public programs.

Proceeds from the event will help sustain year-round initiatives, including school field trips for underserved communities, cultural events for all ages, seasonal tours of the mansion and gardens, and continued conservation work to ensure the property remains a vibrant educational and historical destination. Donations collected during the event will directly contribute to necessary maintenance and preservation projects, including garden restoration, infrastructure updates, and archival preservation.

The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum & Gardens remains a cornerstone of the Bronx’s historical and cultural landscape. Through engaging public programs, dynamic exhibitions, and a steadfast commitment to education and preservation, the museum continues to foster a deeper appreciation for the borough’s rich heritage.
