Fiorito Sworn In As Fire Captain

By Stephen E. Lipken

Pelham Manor Mayor Jennifer Monachino Lapey opened the Monday, July 21st Board Meeting, congratulating Will Case, son of Trustee Tim Case, upon his marriage to Erin Foxx. Then Deputy Mayor/Trustee Breda Bennett informed residents who are going away that they can put their homes on the Dark List; e.g., have the Police look in on their houses; call the Police Department at 914-738-1000.

Then Fire Commissioner/Trustee Tim cautioned residents regarding barbecue grill fires; keep grills free of accumulated grease, fat and away from homes and decks.

Trustee Dan McLaughlin informed the public that the new Pelham Manor website is pelhammanor.gov.

Next, Lapey swore in Geoffrey Fiorito as Fire Captain.  Lifelong Pelham resident Fiorito graduated from Pelham Memorial High School in 1987.

After graduating from Life University, Marietta, GA in 1998, Geoffrey took over his father’s chiropractic practice and joined the Pelham Manor Volunteer Fire Company.  He was hired as a career firefighter within the Pelham Manor Fire Department in November 2004.

Trustee Maurice Owen-Michaane said that there was an email blast and Facebook post that went out regarding upcoming stormwater projects “as part of our overall plan.  We are going to be working on High Brook and Monterey for the duration of summer and will be lining the stormwater pipe with a new size pipe which will extend its useful life.”

Regarding the Site Plan Amendment for Regency Centers 4767-4787 Boston Post Road, there will be a full overhaul of the facade of this structure and also the parking lot.  The front and rear parking areas will be restriped and reconfigured to provide ADA-compliant parking.  It is a

Type 2 SEQRA action with no significant harm to the environment with drainage improvements from the stormwater on this site.  The Amendment was approved.

Police Chief Michael Greco warned residents to keep passwords private and avoid using personal information for the passwords themselves.  Cover the keypad when entering PIN Numbers.  Bicycle registration is ongoing and can be accomplished at Police Headquarters.
